Regency - 2/2 of your councillors are Green

Jason KitcatCouncillor Jason Kitcat 


Jason has run a successful local Internet consulting business, based in Middle Street for the last seven years. His business involves running websites for schools, associations and charities. He is also an experienced campaigner and researcher on electronic democracy and e-voting. Jason has a keen interest in sustainable local transport and also urban design. He recently completed an MSc at the University of Sussex. Jason is a governor at St Mary’s Primary School. He has also served as Chair of Brighton & Hove Green Party. He is married and has a young daughter.

Jason was elected to the city council in a by-election in December 2007 following the resignation of Councillor Dr Hermione Roy.  


Councillor Sven Rufus


As a professional consultant ecologist, Sven has particularly strong ecological credentials, having also worked for several years for nature conservation charities both locally and nationally.  He supported community campaigns to protect wildlife sites and areas of open space that are important to local people, and has worked with local councils to ensure sustainability in their development plans.  Sven serves on the city council's Environment Committee and the Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, as well as as serving as the Green spokesperson on East Sussex Fire Authority.


In October 2007 Dr Hermione Roy was forced to stand down as a Green councillor for Regency Ward on account of illness.
