Hanover & Elm Grove - 3/3 of your councillors are Green


Councillor Bill Randall

 

Bill is an award-winning freelance journalist and writer and was first elected to the city council to represent the Hanover & Elm Grove ward in 2003.  He was re-elected with a substantial majority in May 2007 and he continues to be the Green spokesperson on housing. He also serves on the Policy and Resources Committee, as well as the Policy and Resources (Housing Management) sub-committee.  Bill takes particular interest in the development of sustainable communities, is Chair of the Queen’s Park and Craven Vale Neighbourhood Forum, and works closely with residents and community organisations in the area.  


  

Councillor Vicky Wakefield-Jarrett

 

At 21, Vicky is the youngest person to be elected as a local councillor to serve on Brighton & Hove City Council in the May 2007 city council elections.  Born in Brighton, Vicky has always lived in the city, apart from three years at Sheffield University where she graduated with a BSc in Archaeology, and now works for a leadership training organisation.  Vicky is active in the local peace and environment movement and now sits on the Council’s Adult Social Care & Health sub-committee, the Children & Young People’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee, the Equalities Forum and the Sustainability Commission.

Councillor Georgia Wrighton

Georgia has represented Hanover & Elm Grove on the council since 2003; she has lived in the Hanover area for six years and has been very involved in local community activity.  Georgia serves as deputy convernor of the Green Group of councillors.  She has also served on the education overview and scrutiny panel, and continues to sit on the council's policy and resources committee and environment committee.  

Georgia has been working on projects on minimising waste, improving the city's walking, cycling and public transport infrastructure.  She also has a strong interest in animal welfare. in her professional job she works as a community planner, helping disadvantaged groups in the planning process.  This brings invaluable knowledge and expertise to her role on the local strategic partnership (LSP) which is responsible for regeneration in Brighton & Hove.
