The issue
Attempting to apply the brakes to the capitalist juggernaut, approaching the cliff edge of climate catastrophe, Kennett & Wall deconstruct globalisation and its impact on people and planet.
Against the background of war and poverty, of the rampant march towards ever greater growth, profit and productivity, of deforestation and species loss, of outsourcing and privatisation, the erosion of liberties and working conditions, of rising seas and disease, we will look at how sustainable society can be built.
'Conventional economics based on addictive consumerism and exploitation of people and planet has created chaos on planet Earth’ said Dr Wall. ‘Green economics is about meeting need without greed, of harnessing human creativity without wrecking nature. I will be discussing what's wrong with old fashioned economics and how in practical terms the Green movement can create something better'.
