Broken benches and poor street workmanship in and around Brighton's central Seven Dials area are posing a danger to the community, which could lead to injury, say Greens.

Jason Kitcat, Green candidate for the Regency by-election (pictured left), is calling for urgent repairs to a dangerous park bench and uneven paving to prevent hazards in the area.

The broken park bench, on the green space between Vernon Terrace and Montpelier Crescent, is precariously propped up by a milk crate, posing a real danger to anyone trying to sit there.

The bench and uneven paving was reported by residents during recent canvassing by Green councillors.

Jason Kitcat comments: "This shocking neglect of our open spaces is causing concern to local people in Regency, especially the elderly and sight impaired.

"Seven Dials is an area of heavy foot traffic, and pedestrians should be able to rely on safe, well laid paving.

"It's vital that the Tory-led council acts quickly to repair these problems so that everyone, particularly the elderly and disabled, can enjoy our green spaces safely."
