Climate Crisis Public Meeting
Friday 11 November 2005, 7:30PM
Climate Crisis Public Meeting, Friends' Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton
The coming decade looks set to be marked by extreme weather and a rise in sea levels, bringing severe damage to the coastal environment and the local economy of Brighton and Hove. As individuals, we can feel powerless in the face of such a challenge. But one thing's clear - it's time to stop burying our heads in the sand. We need to take action - and fast.
The aim of this meeting is to bring together everyone in the Brighton and Hove area who is concerned about climate change and wants to do something to protect our environment. If we all work together, we can make this crisis our opportunity and give our city - and our planet - a future.
Speakers at the meeting:
- Caroline Lucas MEP (Green Party)
- Councillor Joyce Edmond-Smith (Labour), Sustainability Commission, Brighton and Hove Council
- Dominic Kniveton, Climate Change Researcher, University of Sussex
- Phil Thornhill, National Coordinator, Campaign against Climate Change
After this meeting, let's walk the talk by taking our message to the streets of London on Saturday 3 December for the International Day of Action on Climate Change (put it in your diaries). Coaches are being organised - find out more and get your tickets at the meeting on Friday 11 November. More details at: www.campaigncc.org
