Information on late drinking applications
The Green Party in Brighton and Hove has an on-going campaign to inform residents who live near pubs in residential areas of the city of the new licensing hours and of applications by venues for late night drinking licences.
There are approximately 1,000 venues in Brighton and Hove that are free to apply for extended drinking hours.
Some of these venues are in densely inhabited parts of the city where there is a risk of disturbance to neighbours.
We support the principle of liberalisation of licensing hours. However we believe this must not be at the expense of causing nuisance and disturbance to residents who live near venues applying for extended hours licences.
In 2005 we published a Licensing Review Information document (84k PDF) providing you with information about how to ask for a review of a premises licence.
For information about making a representation against a new late license application, please see our licence application guide (70k PDF).
Another useful link is Brighton and Hove City Council's Licence application page. This provides information on applications and how to submit objections.
