Local Actions
Brighton & Hove Green Party calls on our City Council to:
- Appoint a full time officer within the council to liaise with the LGBT community, with particular reference to assessing community need to facilitate and fund socially sustainable community development.
- Work with the police, Pride and local traders, to enable the Pride march to take a more visible route through the city centre shopping area.
- Lead by example and provide equal employment benefits for same sex partners of council employees (as for heterosexual married partners).
- Issue stand-alone guidance to every education worker in the city, setting out their responsibilities to provide a safe learning and working environment for LGBT students and staff, or those questioning their sexuality or gender.
- Ensure the full and effective targeting of social care, housing and health services - including HIV / AIDS support - to all members of the LGBT community who need it.
